Young Musicians' SummerFestival Honors Jazz Camp

SummerFestival Honors Jazz Camp
June 11–14, 2009
Ages 14–18

This one-of-a-kind, 3-day jazz camp will give you a chance to play with some of the best! Receive outstanding instruction in swing, blues, jazz, Latin, funk and fusion styles from renowned jazz faculty while attending master classes, jazz theory, jazz history, improvisation, and big band and combo rehearsals.

Directed by BYU School of Music faculty, SummerFestival Honors Jazz Camp begins Thursday morning with check-in from 9:00–11:00 a.m. Orientation and lunch follow check-in. Jazz sessions begin right after lunch. Evening activities include jam sessions with faculty and guest artists as well as clinics, performances, and concerts. Students will perform on Saturday evening for family and friends.

SummerFestival Honors Jazz Camp participants will continue with their honors combos and ensembles during the week of SummerFestival.

Enrollment is through audition only and is limited to 36 students. Participants must be enrolled in Young Musicians’ SummerFestival (June 15–21) to participate.
